The St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Downtown Cleveland

Celebrating 250 Years of Irish and Irish-American Contributions in 2026

With over 600,000 spectators, the St. Patrick’s Day parade in Cleveland is undoubtedly one of the city’s most anticipated events of the season. The parade features roughly 10,000 participants including marching bands, dance groups, and local organizations all together creating a lively celebration of Irish heritage.

What To Know Before You Go

📍 Location & Time: The parade kicks off at 1:04 PM on Superior Ave at East 18th St., then heads west toward Public Square.

🚗 Parking & Transportation: Downtown parking fills up fast, so consider taking the RTA Rapid or using ride-share services instead. Some garages offer special event parking, but expect higher rates.

☁️ Weather: March in Cleveland is unpredictable. It could be 50 degrees and sunny, a blizzard, or even in the low 70s. Dress in layers and bring an umbrella or poncho just in case.

👥 Crowd Size: The parade draws over half a million people, so be prepared for large crowds and packed sidewalks, especially near Public Square.

👜 What to Bring: Cash for food vendors, a portable chair if you want to sit, and hand warmers if it’s chilly.

🍀 Family-Friendly?: Yes! While there’s a party atmosphere, the parade itself is family-friendly, with lots of fun floats and performances for kids.

🚻 Restrooms: Public restrooms are limited, but some bars and restaurants along the route allow access if you make a purchase. Portable restrooms may be available in some areas.

🍺 After the Parade: Many Irish pubs and pop-up bars will be celebrating with live music and drink specials—plan ahead if you’re sticking around!

*Home of the future Irishtown Bend Park*

Irishtown Bend
The Irishtown Bend Archaeological District was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1990 by the National Park Service. Soon, it will transform into a 25-acre park honoring the Irish immigrants who once settled there. Note: this is currently a construction zone, but I am leaving it here for awareness in the future.

The Irish Cultural Garden, part of the Cleveland Cultural Gardens, is a serene tribute to Irish heritage and history. Situated along MLK Drive, it features a stunning Celtic cross, limestone pillars, and inscriptions honoring Irish literary and political figures. It’s one of my favorite places in the city, offering a peaceful retreat that reflects Cleveland’s deep Irish roots.

Offering authentic Irish flavors with a Cleveland twist, enjoy Boxty Cakes, Kilroy’s Irish Bangers & Mash (served with colcannon), and end your meal with Bread Pudding or a Guinness Ice Cream Sundae.

Slyman’s Restaurant & Deli near Downtown Cleveland
If you’re looking for the biggest and most-loved Irish-American corned beef sandwich, this is your place.

Flat Iron Café in Flats West Bank
Established in 1910, it’s Cleveland’s oldest Irish pub, renowned for its rich history and classic pub fare. Be sure to try the Irish Bend Burger, and finish off with a Guinness Float.

Flannery’s Pub Downtown Cleveland
Located on the corner of E4th Street, this Irish pub is always packed. Savor a cup of Irish Stew and indulge in Irish Soda Bread Pudding.

Stone Mad Pub in Detroit Shoreway
Find unique art scattered throughout the pub, which is also known for its fantastic St. Patrick’s Day celebration.
