We spent an afternoon in Cleveland’s East Side recently because I’ve been wanting to explore the neighborhoods on the east side more lately. Our first stop was in Coventry Village for a late lunch and some shopping on Coventry Road.

Independent hippie vibes on Coventry Road
The stretch of Coventry Road between Mayfield Road and Euclid Heights Boulevard is one of my favorite places. It’s part of a neighborhood by the same name and is known for its independent hippie vibes. There is one spot I think many familiar with the agrea would agree is worth a visit. Tommy’s. I ordered my usual, a Judy – a plain grilled cheese sandwich, an order of fries, and a vanilla milkshake. Be sure you have an appetite when you come as some portions are huge.

After filling our bellies with delicious Tommy’s fare, we decided to stroll Coventry Road for some shopping. I stopped at Record Revolution to find a new album. I ended up grabbing Daft Punk’s 2013 Random Access Memories, so good. Afterward, we stopped in the Cleveland Candle Company where I left with a new Apple scented candle. I wanted to stop in Mac’s Backs Books but it was a little too crowded for my comfort level. We headed across the street to visit City Budda before heading to our next stop. Sadly, they were having a closing sale.

While in Coventry check out Mongolian BBQ, Zero Below for rolled ice cream, Record Revolution to pick up a new album, Mac’s Backs bookstore for 3 floors of something new to read, and of course Tommy’s for a yummy meal.
Amazing smells and vibrant community in Little Italy

Our next destination was Cleveland’s Little Italy, just a short drive away from Coventry Road and worth a visit for the delicious smells alone. Having just eaten, we weren’t there for food but just to stroll around the neighborhood. Although, I wish I were hungry as the smells were just so good. We left with thoughts of coming back really soon for some delicious Italian food – maybe at Guarino’s adorable back patio, or some treats from Presti’s Bakery.

We ended our outing with a drive through the beautiful Cultural Gardens before hopping on the freeway back home.
