It’s spooky season in the Land, and I’m here to help you make the most of it. My ultimate Halloween in Cleveland guide rounds up the best ways to celebrate. Whether you’re looking for unique Cleveland halloween events with friends, a family-friendly afternoon, or something seriously spooky, this guide covers the absolute best things to do for Halloween in Cleveland.
A quick note on location: I’m using Downtown Cleveland as my north star for distances. When I say something is a certain number of miles or minutes from Cleveland, I’m referring to downtown. For the destinations included in this guide, I’m primarily sticking to the Greater Cleveland area, which includes Cuyahoga, Ashtabula, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, and Medina counties, with a few worthwhile exceptions noted along the way.

Don’t miss West Clinton Historic Haunts, an interactive lantern-lit walking tour through Cleveland’s Detroit Shoreway neighborhood. Hosted by the West Clinton Block Club and Near West Theatre, this annual event blends spooky fun with a dash of Cleveland history as local actors bring ghost stories, legends, and a few frightful surprises to life along the streets near the Gordon Square Arts District.
The guided tour lasts about an hour and covers just under a mile. While it’s family-friendly, a few eerie moments make it best for kids ages 10 and up. We did this in 2025 and it was so cool! Highly recommend.

Drive Around Town & Check Out Some Spooky Decor
📍Various Locations | Mid-September through October
Cleveland-area homeowners really go all out for Halloween, from elaborate haunted yards and giant skeletons to themed displays that transform an entire street. There are a lot of them, and because many are private homes without official websites or social media pages, it can be challenging to know which displays are happening from year to year.
Rather than attempt to list every decorated house in the area, I’ve grouped some of the more popular displays into a few easy-to-follow driving routes. I’ve personally visited the west-side displays below, while the east- and south-side picks are ones I’ve come across while researching this year’s guide.
West Side Halloween Houses
These displays are within a relatively short drive of one another, making them a fun option for a Halloween house-hunting evening. We visited these in 2025, and they did not disappoint!
East Side Halloween Houses
I haven’t made it to these east-side displays yet, but they’re definitely on my list for a future Halloween outing. If you check them out this year, I’d love to hear what you think!
South Side Halloween Houses
I had no idea Parma had so many Halloween displays! These are clustered relatively close together, making the south side a good option if you’re looking to see several in one outing.
A note about Halloween house displays: Because these are homeowner-created displays, dates, hours, and themes can change from year to year. I’m going to do my best to keep this section as up-to-date as possible, but do check their social media or look into the houses you want to visit before making a trip to be sure they are open!
For even more decorated homes around Cleveland, check out the Cleveland Haunt Club and the Frightmaps app.
