Hotels We Love: El Rey Court, Santa Fe
The moment we saw the images of The El Rey Court in Santa Fe, I knew it would be an amazing experience, and it truly was. Built along the original Route 66 in 1936, the space has undergone many upgrades and transformations. El Rey’s traditional New Mexico adobe-style architecture and vintage motor court layout give it loads of charm. From the stunning courtyard and common outdoor and indoor spaces to the one-of-a-kind, stylishly appointed rooms, this hotel was a standout that lived up to the hype. If we ever find ourselves back in the Land of Enchantment, we would no doubt stay here again.

El Rey Santa Fe Amenities
Sprawled out on a five-acre campus, the hotel provides ample space to unwind and explore. From courtyards to gathering spaces, down to the toiletries and private spaces. You’ll find everything you need for an enjoyable stay. While we didn’t use all the amenities listed due to timing and the season we visited, I feel confident they all live up to the standards and experience we had on our visit.
Things To Expect at El Rey Court
- On-site parking.
- Seasonally available outdoor pool, hot tub, and fireplace. (Swim Club memberships and day passes available.)
- Tree-lined lawn and common area with seating & occasional events.
- Pet-friendly space ($50 flat fee + tax to stay).
- On-site paid laundry facilities.

- Breakfast at the Turquoise Trailer, located outside La Reina with limited dates and hours.
- Tea and coffee in the cozy and stylish lobby.
- Drinks at La Reina, a mezcal & tequila-focused bar with outdoor patios, a fireplace, and lounge seating. Enjoy live music, entertainment, and Pizza by Tender Fire, a pop-up kitchen, on occasion.
Your Room…
Note, all rooms are different. Check the listings to see what your choice would include. We chose a King-sized courtyard room.
- Toiletries by Hudson Made: a great brand with a great philosophy and ethos including being cruelty-free, and vegan, and uses recycled packaging and containers to name a few. Our room had Morning Shift, a rosemary, eucalyptus, and a peppermint smell. Divine.
- Cozy, crisp-white linens on the bed.
- Aesthetically pleasing southwest color palette: Oranges, wood-tones, brick, and other cozy colors.
- Vintage-tiled bathroom, and old-school motel bathroom style.
