Downtown Cleveland at Upper Edgewater

Detroit-Shoreway Neighborhood Guide

Just west of Downtown Cleveland, Ohio, and above the shores of Lake Erie is the Detroit-Shoreway neighborhood, a collection of smaller unique, and diverse districts from the Lake Erie shore, art, and antique districts, and so much more. My Detroit-Shoreway Neighborhood Guide will focus on the Edgewater Beach, Gordon Arts District, and the Lorain Antiques District areas.

Mural by Lisa Quine in Gordon Square Detroit-Shoreway Neighborhood in Cleveland, Ohio.

Detroit-Shoreway Highlights

  1. Visit 9000 feet of shoreline along Lake Erie at Edgewater Park and enjoy a treat at the beach house.
  2. Experience the performance arts at one of the many historic movies, music, and theater venues.
  3. Check out some incredibly beautiful murals around town.
  4. Eat some delicious food with flavors from around the world.
  5. Shop at stylish boutiques and unique antique and vintage shops.

Gordon Square Arts District

My Detroit-Shoreway Neighborhood Guide wouldn’t be complete without talking about The Gordon Square Arts District. Popular destination and vibrant arts and theatre district full of retail, restaurants, and theatres within the neighborhood. Beautiful murals and art can be found around the district among many special events and festivals.

Eat The Best Bread At Cents Pizza + Goods

Awesome branding, photogenic interior, and yummy pizza, but what really has me coming back is the Wonder Bread with house cultured butter and a side of Fontina vs Fontinella. (Seriously, don’t sleep on the Wonder Bread). They also have + Goods, a spot in front of the pizza shop selling curated goods you don’t see in the Cleveland area.

Visit | 5010 Lorain Avenue

Also on Lorain Avenue

Depending on the map or website, these destinations might be in Ohio City but are sometimes referred to as being in Detroit-Shoreway. Either way, I decided to add them since they are hovering on the border and are all worth a visit. Enjoy,

All Things For You

Two floors of amazing vintage goods.

Helm Collective

Beautifully curated vintage home goods.

Juneberry Table

Your new favorite brunch spot opened next to Helm Collective.

Forest City Shuffleboard

Shuffleboard, Drinks, and eats and nostalgia.

Duck-Rabbit Coffee

Edgewater Park & Beach

My favorite part of my Detroit-Shoreway Neighborhood Guide is talking about Edgewater Beach and Lake Erie. The northern border of Detroit-Shoreway is 147 acres of lakefront park which includes 9000 feet of shoreline, a fishing pier, play spaces, lots of green spaces, a beach house, and more. One of the famous Cleveland Script Signs can be found in Upper Edgewater, and Cleveland’s favorite tree, a weepy willow on the edge of the lake can be found next to the beach. It’s one of Cleveland’s most popular beaches and green spaces.

Hang Out At The Edgewater Beach House

Have a drink and watch the sunset, meet up with friends, lounge on a rocker, and watch the sunset. The beach house is a great spot to hang out while enjoying the lakefront at one of Cleveland’s most popular beaches.

Visit | 7600 Cleveland Memorial Shoreway

Visit One Of The Cleveland Script Signs At Upper Edgewater

There are several of these script signs around town, this one has an epic view of downtown Cleveland from a bluff over Lake Erie.

Visit | Upper Edgewater Drive

Eat A Burger & Fries At Good Company

A simple menu of tasty burgers, fries, and shakes in a well-designed space.

Visit | 1200 West 76th Street

Enjoy Lake Erie at Edgewater Park at the Cleveland Metroparks Lakefront Reservation

It may be the smallest Great Lake, but to us locals it’s like a little ocean. It has a personality. One day she’s feisty with powerful waves and the deepest, prettiest blue shade ever, the next day it’s still as glass with a greenish-teal hue. Sunsets will sear into your memory and you can spend hours exploring the beach, the bluffs at Upper Edgewater, the pier, and more.

6 epic and easy views you can see in Rocky Mountai 6 epic and easy views you can see in Rocky Mountain National Park!

✨Save for future visit✨

These epic views deliver with minimal effort because sometimes you don’t want to hike a few miles to be rewarded with breathtaking scenes.

📍Alluvial Fan: this spot has a very interesting history you can read about on site, it’s also very relaxing to listen to the rushing waters.

📍Hiking Bear Lake to Nymph Lake & beyond. It’s an easy hike depending on the season. We had partial snow so we rented spikes and poles. The views on the way up are dreamy. You can continue past Nymph to several other lakes if you’re up for it.

📍Sprague Lake is just a 30 minute drive from the park entrance and one of our favorite spots. Epic sunrises nature, and mountains-reflecting-in-water views.

📍Moraine Park is huge and within the National Park boundaries. The views are vast.

📍Driving Trail Ridge Road will take you as far as 12,000 feet above sea level 😳 with many stops along the way, this is a great way to enjoy the park. During winter it’s closed and opens gradually through mid- May once the snow melts enough.
