One of my favorite beaches is part of the Huntington Reservation, one of the beautiful Cleveland Metroparks. Sitting below a bluff is roughly half a mile of sandy, Lake Erie shore with five protective rocky break walls that extend up to 350 feet from the beach. On top of the bluff, Huntington Reservation continues with open green space, community amenities, and a small forest of trees with ethereal Porter Creek hidden behind the treeline.
Throughout this post, I will share my favorite things to do in Huntington Beach and Reservation and you’ll see why it’s one of the most popular of the Cleveland Metroparks.
What To Do At Cleveland Metroparks Huntington Reservation

Lounge On The Shores of Huntington Beach
With plenty of sandy beach in the sun and ample space in the shade of the cliff, there is a place for everyone on Huntington Beach. Bring your favorite blanket or chair and enjoy a relaxing day listening to, what I like to think of as a mini-ocean, Lake Erie

Hunt For Sea Glass & Pretty Stones
Find an endless supply of unique stones, tiny shells, and sea glass along the beach. I like making small works of art and leaving them behind to brighten others’ days.

Wade or Swim In Lake Erie at The Beach in Cleveland Metroparks Huntington Reservation
Some people enjoy swimming in the lake or walking along the shore. Pay attention to the water status sign at the top of the bluff for full water details. This sign will provide you with lifeguard status, water quality, and if there’s a strong rip tide.

Find Interesting Carvings In The Rocky Break Walls
There are a lot of interesting rock carvings in the rocky break walls at Huntington Beach that could make for interesting photo ops. Please do not carve into the rocks today.
Grab A Bite To Eat At The Noshery

The Noshery is a newly renovated made-to-order concession stand next to the historic Water Tower to get eats and treats while at the beach. Open Wednesday through Sunday from noon till 9 pm serving up ice cream from Honey Hut, pretzels, salad, sandwiches, beer, cocktails, and more.

Relax On Top Of The Huntington Reservations Bluff Overlooking Lake Erie
Enjoy a stroll, relaxing swing, or gather with friends by the fire pit.

Enjoy some of the most spectacular sunsets that can be seen at the beach.
Enjoy A Hike At Porter Creek Trailhead in Huntington Reservation

Across the street from the beach is Porter Creek, nestled behind a parking lot and down a grassy hill. This small wooded area feels like a hidden ethereal forest and is perfect for a photo shoot.
