Cleveland might not be known as a pizza destination like New York and Chicago, but it can hold its own with some of the tastiest pies out there. Here are 10 Pizzas in the Cleveland area that you just have to try.

Cent’s Pizza + Goods
Visit Site | 5010 Lorain Ave, Cleveland, Ohio 44102
As soon as you walk inside you can tell Cent’s Pizza stands out from the rest. Bold orange and wood furniture with a black and white checkerboard floor really pops, combined with their bold branding and you have one photogenic pizza shop. However, that’s not why you go to Cent’s Pizza, you go for the delicious pizza, tasty sides, and Goods shop in front of the store that sells items you don’t see in other Cleveland shops.
I recommend: You can’t go wrong with any pizza, but I prefer the Mr. White pizza. The one thing on the menu that I might be obsessed with is the Wonder Bread with house cultured butter. Holy. Moly. It’s insane how good this bread is. If I could eat it every day, I would. I like to get the bread with a side of Fontina vs. Fontinella cheese. Perfection.
Parking: Street parking is available.
Other details: Take-out, indoor, and back patio seating available. No reservations. A unique gift shop called +Goods is in the front of the shop.

Angelo’s Pizza
Visit Site | 13715 Madison Ave, Lakewood, Ohio 44107
The first time I had Angelo’s Pizza they were catering an event for a release party for a local magazine I helped work on. It was their Baked Potato Pizza and it was love at first bite. This pizza had such a light crisp to its crust, and the flavor was so good. This pizza is filling, too. Just a slice or two and it feels like you ate the whole thing.
I recommend: Baked Potato Pizza, all the way.
Parking: Street parking
Other details: Indoor, bar, and outdoor seating available.

Citizen Pie
Visit Site | Ohio City: 2144 w 25th Street, Cleveland, Ohio Collinwood: 15710 Waterloo Road, Cleveland, Ohio
We were excited to learn this pizza joint was coming to Ohio City with their yummy pies that are baked in front of you within 60 seconds. They also have a very tasty homemade soft serve ice cream I highly recommend it if they have it on the menu when you visit.
I recommend: I love the Cacio e Pepe pizza and their vanilla soft serve. It’s so good!
Parking: Street parking
Other details: Really fun interior design

Citizen Pie Roman Cafe
Visit Site | 2057 E 4th Street, Cleveland, Ohio 44115
Roman-inspired Pizza al Taglio (Italian for pizza by the slice) is one of the more unique pizzas on my list. There’s a very specific process they use to bake their pies and its result is one truly unique tasting pizza. The dough is low in gluten and fermented for 72 hours giving it light crispiness to its texture. There sell a combination of basic flavors and more unique combinations. A perfect spot to grab a slice for lunch or get takeout for later as their pizza is perfect for reheating at home.
I recommend: Cheeze, Pepperoni, or Cacio e Pepe are all good choices.
Parking: Various parking garages near E4th Street
Other details: Spacious interior and outdoor seating.

Il Rione Pizzeria
Visit Site | 1303 W 65th St, Cleveland, Ohio 44102
Il Rione Pizzaria is set in a cool, industrial building that has a simple pizza concept. It’s one of the more popular spots on my 10 Pizzas in Cleveland You Have To Try They make a certain amount of dough each day because their process requires a set amount of time. This also means they will sell out and could possibly sell out if you are waiting to order later in the evening. It’s that good. There are three sauces and a handful of topping choices along with a few suggested combos. Don’t sleep on the salads, they are also quite tasty.
I recommend: House Salad (minus sunflower seeds and capers) and you can’t go wrong with a White pizza with sausage or marinara pizza with pepperoni.
Parking: Street parking.
Other details: Indoor, bar, and outdoor seating.

Harlow’s Pizza
Visit Site | 14319 Madison Ave, Lakewood, Ohio 44107
Harlow’s Pizza… you go there for the very Instagramable look to be delighted in how good their pizza is. Their menu is simple and they bake your pie in front of you in their big oven.
I recommend: The Bianca, Quattro Formaggi, or Salami pizza.
Parking: Street parking is available.
Other details: Small and stylish interior, large outdoor seating area. This is a very unique building that is stylishly decorated inside and out.

Crust
Visit Site | Tremont Address: 2258 Professor Ave, Cleveland, Ohio Midtown Address: 3000 St. Clair, Cleveland, Ohio
Well known for their gigantic slices of pizza, Crust is a Tremont staple with delicious pizzas and other Italian fares. (Not kidding about the gigantic slices-they are almost the size of a pizza pie themselves!)
I recommend: A Ceaser Salad, Arancini Bolognese, and Bianco pizza with sausage.
Parking: Small lot next door and street parking.
Other details: Indoor, bar, and outdoor seating. Upstairs is a bookstore.

Dewey’s Pizza
Visit Site | 18516 Detroit Ave. Lakewood, Ohio, and other locations.
Simple pizzas, tasty salads. The best part is watching them make the pizzas while you wait for a table.
I recommend: We always get a 50/50 pizza. Half red sauce with pepperoni, the other half white pizza with sausage. Don’t sleep on the salads, they are top-notch. I always get the Caeser and my husband usually gets seasonal.
Parking: Street parking
Other details: Huge inside seating area. You can watch them make your pizzas here.

Vero Pizza Napoletana
Visit Site | 12421 Cedar Rd, Cleveland Heights, Ohio 44106
This is my only east side listing on my 10 Pizzas in Cleveland You Have To Try list because admittedly I don’t get over to the east side very often but this pizza was tasty enough to get on the list. They had a good playlist while we were there, which was great because we did have to wait a long time. Luckily the pizzas were good. We visited pre-pandemic and will likely visit again someday when we’re out east.
I recommend: A Caeser salad and plain cheese, Bianca, or Salumi pizza.
Parking: Small lot in back or street parking.
Other details: Inside and bar seating with limited outdoor seating. The Interior is very small.

Saucy Brew Works
Visit Site | 2885 Detroit Ave, Cleveland, Ohio, and other locations.
They specialize in New Haven-style pizza or pizza, but we just get their white sauce with sausage, and its: ‘s chefs kiss: They have great garlic knots, too.
I recommend: We get customized pizza with white sauce and sausage. However, while you’re here, you should also try the Mac & Cheese and Saucy Bread. Good stuff!
Parking: Street parking. Pay lot at neighbor Church & State accessible via Church Avenue.
Other details: Huge interior with lots of seating, bar seating, and large outdoor seating area. Walk up stand on Detroit Avenue for slices.
Bonus Spot: City Slice
Visit Site | 12021 Lorain Ave Cleveland, Ohio 44111
I know I said 10 Pizzas in Cleveland you’ve got to try, but I had to add this bonus shop to the list. City Slice has only been open a few months now but is easily a new favorite so I had to add it to the list! If you’re looking for a New York City-style slice that is huge, this is your spot. Small indoor eatery with games, ice cream, and more.
If you love pizza and are in the Cleveland, Ohio area you’ve got to try these! Did I not mention your favorite place to get pizza? Let me know in the comments!
